Prices in USD from base44.com/pricing (yearly and monthly toggle); annual billing saves 20%. Credit allowances and plan features from Base44's Billing and plans and Credits docs. Unused credits expire when they reset each month; there's no rollover. Base44 accepts major credit and debit cards only (no PayPal), and plan fees are non-refundable under its Terms of Use.

Why builders look for Base44 alternatives

Base44 meters everything in credits, and the free allowance is small: 25 message credits a month, no more than 5 a day. Paid credits reset monthly and unused ones expire. Private apps need a paid plan (since Feb 6, 2026), and two-way GitHub sync, the main way to get your code out, starts with Builder at $40/mo billed annually ($50 monthly). Base44's docs also say workspace data on every plan except Enterprise, Business included, can be used to train AI models, with no opt-out setting below Enterprise. And Base44 apps run on Base44's managed back end (a NoSQL database, built-in auth and Deno backend functions reached through the Base44 SDK). People switch when they want a bigger free tier, a standard back end such as Supabase, a training opt-out on a self-serve plan, or a real code editor.

The alternatives, ranked

  1. 01

    Lovable

Closest like-for-like swap: Lovable turns a prompt into a web app with Lovable Cloud (database, auth, storage), and its import dialog has guided export steps for Base44. Per Lovable's guide, you open the app in Base44, select the ⋯ menu and choose Export project as ZIP (Base44 code export needs Builder or higher); Lovable then migrates the code and moves your database and users to Lovable Cloud. Import is on every plan, uses credits, and is still rolling out gradually. Free is $0 with 5 daily build credits (up to 30 a month). Pro is $25/mo ($21/mo billed yearly) and Business $50/mo ($42/mo yearly), with unlimited users on every paid plan. Git sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket works on every plan, Free included.

💳 Free (5 daily credits, up to 30/mo); Pro from $25/mo ($21/mo yearly); Business from $50/mo (approx.)
  2. 02

    Bolt.new

Best for the biggest free allowance: Bolt.new builds apps from a prompt with hosting and Bolt databases included, and it can import an existing GitHub repository, so a Base44 app you've synced to GitHub can continue in Bolt. Free is $0 with 300K tokens a day, up to 1M a month, public and private projects, and Bolt branding on sites. Pro is $25/mo, or $18/mo billed yearly ($216 a year), with 10M tokens a month and your own domain. Teams is $30 per member/mo, or $27 billed yearly. Most token use comes from syncing your project's files, so bigger projects cost more per message.

    💳 Free (300K tokens/day, 1M/mo); Pro from $25/mo ($18/mo yearly); Teams $30/member/mo ($27 yearly) (approx.)
  3. 03

    Replit Agent

Best if you need mobile apps or want to keep going on code: Replit has a Base44 import path (export the project to GitHub, open replit.com/import, pick Base44 and select the repository). It brings over code, styles, assets, backend logic and the database schema, but not existing database records or secrets. Replit also builds native iOS and Android apps and can upload iOS builds to App Store Connect. Starter is $0 with daily Agent credits and 1 published app for 30 days. Core is $20/mo ($18 billed annually) with $20 of credits, and Pro starts at $100/mo ($90 annually). Agent work and publishing both draw on those credits.

💳 Free Starter plan (daily Agent credits, 1 published app for 30 days); Core $20/mo; Pro from $100/mo (approx.)
  4. 04

    v0

Best for Next.js and React front ends on Vercel: v0 builds with Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui and deploys to Vercel. It can import an existing GitHub repository or a ZIP (the + icon in the prompt bar). Base44 front ends are also React with Tailwind and shadcn/ui, but the back end doesn't come along. Free is $0 with 7 messages a day, and new users get $5 of one-time credits. Plus is $30/user/mo with $30 of monthly credits per user and Business is $100/user/mo with training opt-out by default. Hosting is a separate Vercel bill, and Vercel's free Hobby plan is for non-commercial, personal use only.

    💳 Free (7 messages/day; $5 one-time credits for new users); Plus $30/user/mo; Business $100/user/mo (approx.)
  5. 05

    Cursor

Best when you want to own and edit the code: on Builder or higher, Base44's two-way GitHub sync keeps a repository in step with your app, so you can clone it and work in Cursor's AI editor. Changes you merge to main sync back to Base44, and you click Publish there to make them live. Cursor Free is $0 with limited agent and chat requests. Plus is $8/mo but only includes Grok models. Premium ($30/mo) adds third-party models such as Claude and GPT, billed separately at API list price. Super is $100/mo and Ultra $200/mo.

💳 Free tier; paid plans from $8/mo (Plus) up to $200/mo (Ultra); Teams from $30/user/mo (approx.)
  6. 06

    Claude Code

Best for an agent that does the bigger changes: Claude Code reads your codebase, edits files and runs commands in the terminal, IDE extensions, a desktop app and the browser. Base44's docs name Claude Code, Cursor and Codex as agents you can connect to an app's cloud sandbox with the Base44 CLI (Builder plan or higher), or point it at your synced GitHub repo. It isn't on Claude's Free plan. Pro is $20/mo ($17/mo billed annually, $200 up front) and Max starts at $100/mo. Claude Code shares one usage pool with your Claude chats, or you can pay per token with a Console (API) account.

💳 Included with Claude Pro ($20/mo US), Max (from $100/mo) and every Team seat (from $20/seat/mo billed annually), or pay via API usage (approx.)

How to choose

Want the same prompt-to-app flow with a back end built in? Lovable (Pro $25/mo), which imports a Base44 ZIP directly. Want the most free usage? Bolt.new Free (300K tokens a day, up to 1M a month). Need native mobile apps or a direct Base44 import? Replit (Core $20/mo). Building a Next.js front end you'll host on Vercel? v0 (Plus $30/user/mo). Want to keep your Base44 app but work on the code yourself? Stay on Builder ($40/mo billed annually) for GitHub sync and use Cursor or Claude Code on the repository. Staying on Base44 for the all-in-one hosting, database and sign-in? Starter at $16/mo billed annually is the cheapest way to get private apps and your own domain.

Taking your Base44 project with you

Base44's pricing FAQ says you own what you build, and its docs say app ownership belongs to the person who created it. Here's what the docs describe for getting things out. Code: two-way GitHub sync (Builder plan or higher; only the app owner can connect it) pushes changes to the connected repository automatically, and the repository needs a main branch for changes to sync back. The Base44 CLI's eject command downloads the front-end code and backend resources (entity schemas, functions, config) into a new local project, but it creates a new backend on Base44 with an empty database; your data isn't copied. Base44's App Management API also has an Export app source code endpoint that downloads the code as a ZIP, marked beta. Data: in the dashboard's Data section, each table's More actions menu has Export, which downloads a CSV (Lovable's guide adds that app users export separately from Settings, App Users). Keep in mind the code is a React and Vite front end built on Base44's managed back end through the Base44 SDK, so the importers above (Lovable, Replit) are what move the back end for you.

Also considered

Google AI Studio's Build mode creates a full-stack web app (React front end with a Node.js server) or a native Android app (Kotlin and Jetpack Compose) from a prompt, can import existing code from GitHub, set up Firestore and Firebase Authentication for you, and deploy to Cloud Run. Google notes that if you use paid models, costs may apply. It's the most interesting option if your app leans on Gemini features.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Base44?

Lovable is the closest like-for-like: the same prompt-to-app flow with a built-in back end, it imports a Base44 project from a ZIP, and Pro is $25/mo with unlimited users. Pick Bolt.new for the biggest free allowance, Replit for native mobile apps or a direct import from GitHub, v0 for Next.js front ends on Vercel, and Cursor or Claude Code once you want to work on the code yourself.

Is there a free alternative to Base44?

Yes. Bolt.new Free (300K tokens a day, up to 1M a month), Lovable Free (5 daily build credits, up to 30 a month), v0 Free (7 messages a day plus $5 of one-time credits for new users) and Replit Starter (daily Agent credits, 1 published app for 30 days) all cost $0. Base44's own Free plan gives 25 message credits a month, no more than 5 a day, for up to 5 apps.

Is Base44 cheaper than Lovable or Bolt?

At the entry level, yes: Base44 Starter is $16/mo billed annually ($20 monthly), against Lovable Pro at $25/mo ($21 yearly) and Bolt Pro at $25/mo ($18 yearly). But Starter has 100 message credits a month and no GitHub sync; sync starts with Builder at $40/mo billed annually ($50 monthly).

Can I export my code from Base44?

Yes. Two-way GitHub sync on Builder or higher keeps your full source in your own repository, the Base44 CLI's eject command downloads a copy of the code into a new project (data isn't copied), and a beta API endpoint downloads the source as a ZIP. Table data exports to CSV from the dashboard. The code still uses Base44's back end through the Base44 SDK.

How do I move a Base44 app to Lovable or Replit?

For Lovable, export the project as a ZIP from Base44's ⋯ menu (Builder plan or higher, per Lovable's guide) and use Lovable's Import project dialog, which has a Base44 option (rolling out gradually, and it uses credits). For Replit, sync the app to GitHub, then pick Base44 at replit.com/import and select the repository; database records and secrets don't come over.

Does Base44 train AI on my app?

Base44's docs say data in workspaces on every plan except Enterprise, including Business, can be used to train AI models, and there's no opt-out setting to switch on. On Enterprise the exclusion is automatic. Among the alternatives, v0 Business opts you out of training by default.
