Is Replit free? Starter vs Core vs Pro in 2026
Yes, with tight limits. Replit, the cloud workspace where Replit Agent builds and publishes web and mobile apps from a prompt, has a free Starter plan that costs $0. It gives you daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, Free Mode, the Lite build experience and one published app that goes down after 30 days. Everything that makes Replit feel like a full builder (Full build, Plan Mode, connectors, the paid Power and Max modes, more published apps) starts with Core at $20 a month. Below: every plan and what it costs, what Free Mode covers, how credits and effort-based pricing work, what publishing costs once you're past the free app, whether your code is used to train Replit's AI, and the free app builders to try instead, all checked on Replit's own pricing page, docs and terms on Oct 20, 2026.

Prices in USD and subject to tax depending on your location; yearly billing is up to 10% off. The Starter plan isn't shown on replit.com/pricing; its details come from Replit's Starter plan docs. Replit doesn't publish the size of Starter's daily Agent credits, its monthly cap or the Free Mode allowance on Starter and Pro: your Usage page in Settings shows what's left and when it resets.
What Replit's free Starter plan includes
Starter is Replit's free plan. You get daily credits for Agent that reset every day, up to a monthly cap, plus monthly credits for cloud usage: production databases, object storage and publishing on Autoscale or static deployments. You build with Lite build, which Replit describes as a fast, focused experience for quick edits and targeted changes, and you can use Design Canvas to generate designs. You can build web and mobile apps. Other artifact types, such as slide decks, data visualizations and animated videos, need Core. So do Full build (where Agent works on its own for longer), Plan Mode, third-party connectors like Google and Stripe, Replit AI Integrations, turning a Design Canvas design into an app with a back end, and removing the "Made with Replit" badge. Starter has no collaboration seats and no background tasks.
Free Mode: Replit's no-cost Agent mode
Replit's Agent has three modes. Free Mode is on Starter, Core and Pro, with limits that depend on your plan: Starter has a daily cap, and the pricing page lists Core at up to 30 hours of chat and up to 60 projects on Free Mode, with Pro getting even more. Free Mode always picks the model for you, so you can't choose one. Power Mode (a balance of speed and capability) and Max Mode (the most capable models) spend your monthly credits, let you pick a model and an Effort level, and need Core or Pro. Starter users have to upgrade to use them. Replit tells you before a request moves from Free Mode to a mode that costs money. Two more things: Economy Mode is gone (Power Mode replaces it at the same price), and Routines, Replit's scheduled tasks, don't run in Free Mode.
How Replit credits and effort-based pricing work
On Core and Pro, monthly credits pay for everything you use on Replit: Agent's paid modes, publishing, databases, storage and Replit AI Integrations. Agent bills by effort: each request ends in one checkpoint, and simple fixes cost less than complex builds. When Agent calls paid third-party APIs for you (such as Claude, ChatGPT or Nano Banana / Gemini), you pay the provider's public API rate out of your credits. When the credits run out, Replit bills extra usage as pay-as-you-go, or you can buy a credit pack: $100 of credits for $100, $300 for $290, $500 for $480 or $1,000 for $950. Packs are for Core and Pro, expire six months after purchase and can auto-reload. Usage alerts warn you at a spending amount, and a budget is a hard cap: once you hit it, Replit emails you and suspends your usage-based services until you raise it or the next billing cycle starts.
Publishing on the free plan, and what it costs after
Starter includes 1 free published app, from Lite build or Design Canvas. The link goes down automatically after 30 days, though Replit's publishing docs say you can publish it again, and it shows a "Made with Replit" badge with your referral link. Core and Pro publish unlimited apps and come out of your monthly credits first. After that, Replit's publishing costs page lists static sites as free to host plus $0.05 per GB of data transfer, Autoscale deployments at $0.60 per million compute units and $0.40 per million requests (you pay for compute only while the app is serving requests), and Reserved VMs from $15 a month for a shared 0.5 vCPU with 2 GB of RAM. Replit cut its cloud prices for all paid plans from the first billing cycle on or after Aug 1, 2026.
Is your code used to train Replit's AI?
By default, yes. Replit's model improvement page says it uses the content you provide, including prompts, instructions, context and the responses generated for you, to develop and improve its models and AI features. The opt-out (Settings, Personalization, Model Improvement) is listed as a control for Pro users, and it covers new content from then on. For Enterprise, Replit says it doesn't use customer content to train its models. Replit's terms add that content in your apps isn't made available to the public, but that Replit can access private apps to troubleshoot, improve the service and keep it safe.
Free accounts that go quiet
Replit's account inactivity policy says a free account that nobody logs in to for a year can be terminated, and Replit deletes the apps of inactive free accounts. Accounts on a paid plan aren't subject to this. If you keep a project on Starter, log in now and then, and keep your code in a Git repository too.

Free alternatives to Replit, compared
- 01
LovableLovable Free ($0): a prompt-to-app builder for web apps and sites with its own back end (Lovable Cloud). Free gives 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, plus monthly grants of 20 Cloud and 4 AI credits. Projects are private to your workspace, and Git sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket works on Free. You get 5 lovable.app domains with invite-only publishing (only people you invite can open the site), and you can't edit or download code inside Lovable on Free. Pro starts at $25/mo for 100 credits.
- 02
Bolt.newBolt.new Free ($0): the same prompt-to-app flow with website hosting and unlimited databases included, and the most generous free allowance of the four: 300K tokens a day, up to 1M a month, with public and private projects and no credit card. Free sites carry Bolt branding. Pro is $25/mo, or $18/mo billed yearly ($216 a year), with 10M tokens a month and your own domain.
- 03
v0v0 Free ($0): Vercel's AI app builder, with deploys to Vercel, GitHub sync and visual editing in Design Mode. Free has a 7-message daily limit, and new users get $5 in one-time credits. Plus is $30/user/mo with $30 of monthly credits plus $2 of free daily credits on login. Pick it if your app will live on Vercel anyway.
- 04
Base44Base44 Free ($0): an all-in-one no-code builder that sets up the front end, back end, database, auth and analytics from plain-language prompts. Free includes 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month, for up to 5 apps. Paid plans start at $16/mo billed annually (Starter).
Replit Pro's credit tiers: when a bigger tier pays off
Every Pro tier is the same plan; only the monthly credits change. Billed monthly, $250 of credits costs $225 (10% below face value), $500 costs $440 (12% below), $1,000 costs $850 (15% below) and $2,500 costs $2,050 (18% below). Billed annually, the same tiers are $215, $425, $825 and $2,000 a month, which is 20% below face value at the top. Pro credits roll over for two months, so a bigger tier is cheaper than topping up with credit packs, which save at most 5% ($1,000 of credits for $950) and expire after six months. Core's $20 of credits, by contrast, resets each month. If your Core bill regularly reaches $100 a month with pay-as-you-go, Pro's $100 tier buys the same $100 of usage and adds rollover, 10 parallel agents and 15 builders.
Replit for teams: Core, Pro or Enterprise
Replit doesn't charge per seat. Core lets you invite up to 5 builders with no separate team subscription, Pro raises that to 15 builders with pooled credits and budget controls, plus up to 50 viewers, and Enterprise has unlimited seats with no per-seat cost. Enterprise is self-serve: you can upgrade from Starter, Core or Pro inside Replit and choose an annual credit commitment or pay-as-you-go, or talk to sales for a custom deal. Invoicing is only on Enterprise. Lovable also prices by credits rather than seats, while v0 and Bolt Teams charge per member.
Frequently asked questions
Is Replit free?
Yes, with tight limits. The Starter plan is $0 and includes daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, Free Mode with a daily cap, Lite build, and 1 published app that goes down after 30 days. Full build, Plan Mode, connectors, Power and Max modes and unlimited published apps need Core at $20/mo ($18/mo billed annually).

Starter only gets Lite build, can publish 1 app for 30 days with a "Made with Replit" badge, and has no collaborators, background tasks, Plan Mode, connectors or paid Agent modes.
How long does a free Replit app stay online?
30 days. Starter's one published app goes down automatically after 30 days, but Replit's docs say you can publish it again. Core and Pro publish unlimited apps that stay up, with hosting paid from your monthly credits.
How much is Replit Core?
$20 a month, or $18 a month billed annually. It includes $20 of monthly credits for Agent's Power and Max modes, publishing, databases and AI integrations, up to 30 hours of chat on Free Mode, Plan Mode, connectors, unlimited published apps and up to 5 builders. Usage past the credits is pay-as-you-go.
What happens when I run out of Replit credits?
On Core and Pro, Replit bills extra usage as pay-as-you-go, up to any budget you set, or you can buy a credit pack ($100 to $1,000, up to $50 off; packs expire after six months). A budget is a hard cap that suspends usage-based services until you raise it or the next billing cycle starts. On Starter you wait for the daily reset or upgrade.
Does Replit use my code to train its AI?
By default, yes: Replit says it uses your prompts, context and generated responses to develop and improve its models. Its docs list the opt-out (Settings, Personalization, Model Improvement) as a Pro control, and Replit says it doesn't use Enterprise customer content for training.
