Codex is OpenAI's coding agent. It reads your repo, edits files, runs commands and reviews changes from an open-source (Apache-2.0) CLI, an IDE extension for VS Code, Cursor and Windsurf, the ChatGPT desktop app, and Codex cloud on the web, where it can also take @codex tasks and review pull requests on GitHub. It comes with ChatGPT plans, or you can bill it to an API key.
